Chinese regulators issued guidance on the data security of intelligent vehicles on Thursday.

Personal information and important data should be stored within China and all data to be provided overseas must go through a security assessment, according to the guideline.

All automakers must have an adequate safety management system and technology to ensure data security and carmakers must improve data management.

The guideline also stated that products with driving assistance and automated driving functions are a priority in safety terms.
